'The Saturday Bridge' is the fifth album from Midlands outfit Shards Of Reason.

While each Shards album usually has a definite theme at its heart, this latest release has less rigid borders. Things that composer Phil Lawton has seen written, snippets and phrases heard in conversation or in the media - anything which has caused two neurons to connect and spark a melody, bass line or chord sequence.

From a newspaper headline to a friend's anecdote about an unsteady swan to a piece of graffiti in the heart of London...nothing was too weird.

Moving yet another step away from the proggy-electronica of the band's roots (debut album 'Swept Away' and its follow-up, 'Isolation'), 'The Saturday Bridge' strays even deeper into the world of ambient jazz explored on its preceding releases, i.e. 2010's 'Satellites' and, more pertinently, 2012's 'Memory Lake'.

Drawing on influences from the Scandinavian jazz scene, 'The Saturday Bridge' is a major step for the Shards and is their most accomplished album yet.
